This project is a recreation of a computer display seen in the pilot control room of the ship in the Project Hail Mary movie. Before getting into the details, a massive thank you to Quake on Sketchfab for sharing the gorgeous 3D model of the ship with the world, which made this whole project possible.
After seeing Project Hail Mary on IMAX, I’ve been obsessed with the film’s adaptation, visuals, and sound. It was great to see the spirit of the book captured so well on screen. The IMAX experience was truly wonderful, reminding me of the feeling I had after seeing Gravity and Contact (though Contact didn’t have an IMAX release).
The computer display that I am trying to recreateI found myself particularly drawn to one specific computer display in the control room. ⬆️See above image. The display indicated by the left arrow has been rotated by 90°. And I believe that this display has two layouts: simplified UI vs full UI. So I’ve decided to take a detour from my Enterprise-D project to work on this Project Hail Mary display!
