…Spotted this while rewatching Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2’s Dragon Ship episode [S2 Ep #7 Where Pleasant Fountains Lie]. A familiar screenshot of System 47 screensaver was shown on the shuttlecraft’s display towards the end of the episode (~22:57) 🤣 So Surreal and Awesome~~

System 47 Viewer for macOS is out - version 2.5.01. It can run in a resizable window or in fullscreen mode.

This updated System 47 screensaver includes all the features from the Viewer program, plus the multi-monitor support. Currently it is for Windows only. Due to tech changes in the past 20+ years, this screensaver’s “wrapper” binary is a bit different from the old version. See System 47 for additional info.🖖

System 47 • version 2.5.01

Hi, meWho here… I created System 47 screensaver’s LCARS animation way back in 1999. It’s been a freeware from the beginning. Development was later seized in 2005/2006 — life got in the way :-/

Now, it’s 2021. How things have changed. Multiple new Star Trek series are on TV again, and the LCARS (ST:TNG computer display interface) can still be seen prominently in Star Trek: Picard & Star Trek: Lower Decks! What an exciting time. So I dug out the old source file and started working on System47 updates again :-)

  System47 - version 2.5 Preview

  Preview • Enterprise-E Schematics only

Version number will be moved up from 2.2 to 2.5. In some respects, this won’t seem like a huge update. However, some features I’ve added are the ones that System47 fans (and me myself) have been wanting for a long time. New features are:

• utilizing full 16x9 display area
• numerous upgrades to the Enterprise-E schematic animation
• volumes from effect sound and background sound can be independently adjusted
• bumping up the frame rate from 18 to 30FPS, resulting smoother animation — sorry, this might cause some low-end computers to struggle more with the playback
